DENVER, COLO.—The Colorado Trust, a foundation dedicated to creating fair and equal opportunities for Coloradans to lead healthy lives, announced today that it will grant approximately $4 million in general operating funds to the Colorado Health Institute (CHI) over the next five years. The funds will assist CHI in its mission to “improve the health of all Coloradans by serving as the most trusted and leading source of credible health information” for policymakers, community leaders and other stakeholders.
“As one of CHI’s original funders, The Colorado Trust is proud to continue supporting this invaluable organization and its work,” said Ned Calonge, MD, MPH, president and CEO of The Colorado Trust. “The institute has established a reputation statewide for its reliability and expertise. Every day, CHI informs policy that leads to better health for Coloradans. That’s an effort The Trust is thrilled to help sustain — and doing so for several years is critical to ensuring CHI’s continued stability and service to the people of our state.”
“The Colorado Health Institute appreciates The Colorado Trust’s long-term investment in our partnership,” said Michele Lueck, president and CEO of the Colorado Health Institute. “We believe that this level of commitment is an indication of the valuable and unique role that the Colorado Health Institute plays in the effort to ensure that each Coloradan has the opportunity to live the healthiest and most productive life possible. This long-term grant will allow us to extend our expertise beyond the state level to support local leaders as they work to make the best health policy.”
The Trust partnered with the Caring for Colorado Foundation and Rose Community Foundation to create CHI in 2002. The Trust has long aligned with many of CHI’s strategic initiatives, including advancing health policy discussions at both a community and statewide level, contributing to health care system redesign and payment reform via research and evaluation, sharing findings and evidence that improve health policy decision-making and more.
The grant is effective Jan. 1, 2015 thru Dec. 31, 2019.
