The Colorado Trust Grants $135,000 to 27 Organizations for 2015 Health Equity Learning Series

DENVER, COLO.—The Colorado Trust, a foundation dedicated to creating fair and equal opportunities for Coloradans to lead healthy lives, announced it has granted $135,000 to 27 organizations statewide to participate in the 2015 Health Equity Learning Series. The funds will allow grantees to host events in their own communities to live-stream health equity presentations simultaneously taking place in Denver.

“To achieve health equity, all Coloradans must have a clear understanding of its concept and emerging issues,” said Ned Calonge, MD, MPH, president and CEO of The Colorado Trust. “Funding organizations to host these events will increase awareness of health equity across the state and allows Coloradans outside the metro area to engage with topic experts from across the country.”

This funding marks the third year of the Health Equity Learning Series. The first event will be Thursday, Feb. 5 at History Colorado Center in Denver. Doran Schrantz, executive director of ISAIAH—a faith-based organization in Minesota working towards racial and economic equity—will discuss how to engage communities to develop solutions to health equity issues, and how other organizations and individuals can become part of such a movement.
