Rural Resort Region Northeast Early Childhood Council Receives The Colorado Trust’s Grantee Leadership Award

DENVER, COLO.—The Colorado Trust, a foundation dedicated to creating fair and equal opportunities for Coloradans to lead healthy lives, today gave its John R. Moran, Jr. Grantee Leadership Award to the Rural Resort Region Northeast Early Childhood Council (RRR-NE). The Trust annually recognizes a grantee for exemplary leadership with a one-time award of $25,000, which RRR-NE will use to support its ongoing work.
Rural Resort Region Northeast (RRR-NE) represents a formalized partnership between Early Childhood Options and Grand Beginnings, which serve Summit and Grand counties respectively. Formed in 2006, RRR-NE is one of 31 Colorado Early Childhood Councils, a statewide network of partner agencies working to improve access to health, education and parenting resources and services for children and their families. RRR-NE’s mission is “to promote a child-centered school readiness system that fosters early learning, facilitates healthy child development and promotes family success” in the two counties.
“Research shows that early childhood experiences set the stage for lifelong health and well-being,” said Ned Calonge, MD, MPH, president and CEO of The Colorado Trust. “The council has helped many families in Grand and Summit counties access the resources and services they need to ensure their children enter school healthy and ready to learn. We hope this award helps make it possible for RRR-NE to continue assisting families and children for years to come.”
The leadership award was created in honor of John R. Moran, Jr., former long-time president and CEO of The Trust, for his devotion to improving the health and well-being of Coloradans. Moran retired from The Trust in 2006 after 21 years of service with the grantmaking foundation.
This is the ninth year The Trust has made this award. Past recipients are Together Colorado (2014), Colorado Coalition for the Medically Underserved (2013), West Central Public Health Partnership (2012), Northside Child Health Center (2011), The Rocky Mountain Youth Clinics (2010), Colorado Children’s Healthcare Access Program (2009), Denver Indian Family Resource Center (2008) and Safe2Tell (2007).
