Words to Inspire a Movement

In October, PolicyLink’s Equity Summit 2015 brought together around 3,000 activists, advocates, funders and residents from across the country to Los Angeles. Several Colorado Trust staff members attended, and we were joined by more than 30 of our colleagues and grantees in the health equity advocacy field in Colorado. All of us went to the summit to help build the national movement for equity, and bring back best practices and ideas from other work happening across the country home to Colorado.

Posted above is the summit’s opening video, produced for the PolicyLink event by Wyatt Closs and Big Bowl of Ideas and featuring poet Mayda del Valle. This video set the tone of the Equity Summit, and left many in the audience inspired, incensed and moved to act. Del Valle’s words capture the urgency of what we are fighting for, and the potential of what we can achieve.
