Convening for Colorado
Overview
In January 2012, The Colorado Trust implemented a two-year, $500,000 Convening for Colorado funding strategy. This grant program provided funding to 29 organizations to bring people together to discuss issues central to advancing the health and well-being of Coloradans. Convenings provided dedicated time for people to share information, learn from experts, personally engage and actively deliberate with the goal of tackling a tough challenge or taking advantage of a timely opportunity. Whether participants had shared or disparate views, are from diverse geographic regions or the same neighborhood, are from one sector or an array of occupations, a collaborative dialogue served as a powerful means to help achieve change.
Over the years, The Trust has learned that foundations often have a unique ability to convene stakeholders on neutral ground. While we have supported convenings on an ad hoc basis, Convening for Colorado took this idea to the next level by providing grant support on an ongoing basis.
